Why can't I use Google Music through the Built-in Player?

If you are using Zombies, Run! 5k Training then please check out our How do I play music? (5k) help page.

Playlists made in the Google Play Music app do not work with Zombies, Run!'s Built-in Player. We've spoken directly with Google and they have told us their API does not support the integration that we require so unless something changes in the future this isn't a problem we can fix, unfortunately.

If you want to use playlists made in Google Music you'll need to use the app's External Playlist function. To do this follow the steps below:

  1. Open Zombies, Run!, and select a mission
  2. Tap on the 'Music' button on the mission's selection screen and select the 'External Playlist' option.
  3. Open up Google Music and start your chosen playlist.
  4. Go back to Zombies, Run! and start your chosen mission. Your music should be automatically paused for the first mission clip, and resumed afterwards.

You will be able to skip tracks and change playlists in the external music player app during your run. Skipping or unpausing tracks during ZR mission clips is not advised, as this is likely to cause problems with audio playback.
